The Method

What Directional Drilling Is

Horizontal directional drilling is a trenchless method for installing underground utilities. A steerable drill head is launched at an angle, tracked along a designed path, and guided under the obstacle — then the bore is reamed and the product pipe is pulled back through it.

Because the work happens underground, there's no long open trench across the surface. Roads stay open, driveways and landscaping stay intact, and restoration is limited to compact entry and exit pits.
